It is said the altered wheelbase Dodge and Plymouth factory race cars from 1965 were the first "Funny Cars" of the era. With the rear axle moved forward 15 inches and pushing forward the front wheels by 10 inches. They really did look quite strange or "funny". There was a noticeable advantage in launch times and E.T's with this weird looking chassis design.

By 1966 Ford and Mercury were quickly following suit to keep up with the play. Inductions were upgraded from carburetors to injectors and super chargers running on nitro-methane. It wasn't long after this drag racing fans all across the country began to see front end dragster chassis with fibreglass flip top bodies that resembled real bodied cars, fit together to become the funny cars that we all know and love to this day.

This is our Mustang Finny Car tribute to one of the most recognizable and loved drag racing classes known as the Funny Car class or AA/FC. 200+ MPH Smoke Em If You Got Em was one of the many slogans used to promote the class in NHRA and IHRA back in the day, as seen in many news paper clippings and magazine adverts. We're sure this will bring back a fond memory or two.
